Interesting news are out and it has been reported that Barcelonas new board are stunned by the financial problems theyve encountered.

According to AS, part of the concern for Barca directors was the amount spent only last year by former president Joan Laporta and his directors on private jet flights.

It is said that up to 400,000 was billed to the club for as many as two flights a week.

The clubs auditors are now sifting through those flights that were needed (like international players returning from overseas) and those that were frivolous.

PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor believes that the new Premier League rules instructing clubs to name a 25-man squad do not go far enough.

The new rule was designed to help foster domestic talent and although the imperative is on clubs to ensure they have a ready selection of young players, Taylor believes the existing rules need to be tightened.

Taylor told the Sun that : The new 25-man rule is a step in the right direction but it clearly does not go far enough,.

People talk about getting more home-grown players in squads. But I wont be happy until we have a rule saying that we must have two or three on the field of play.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League yesterday cleared the deal after seeing evidence it had been agreed in time between Tottenham and Real Madrid.

A League spokesman said: We are satisfied the deal was done but there were problems sending the paperwork.

Van der Vaart has signed a four year contract worth 44,000 a week, but he represents a big risk to Spurs as he has not had time to pass a medical.

A club source said: Its not subject to medical. The deal is complete.

New Wolfsburg signing Diego has slammed his former club Juventus, declaring that he was “BETRAYED” by the Bianconeri.

The Brazilian midfielder insists that he was assured by Juve coach Gigi del Neri that he would not be sold, only for him to be sent back to the Bundesliga last week.

“I was betrayed by Juventus. Before I was transferred, Del Neri had told me that I was indispensable, but (Beppe) Marotta only wants Italian players and stars.

“Juve had a campaign of bad signings. There came many good players, but no star.

“Probably, the new director (Marotta) has not yet figured out what it means to lead Juventus.”

Denmark international striker Nicklas Bendtner has rocked Arsenal with a fresh injury blow.

However Bendtner, now age 22, has suffered a further setback and is not likely to be playing first-team football again until November.

He believes his injury is linked to a car crash he had nearly a year ago.

More transfer news are out and it has been reported that Everton defender Joseph Yobo has joined Turkish club Fenerbahce on loan.

The 29-year old Nigerian international centre back will undergo a season-long loan with the Istanbul outfit but the deal has the option of a permanent switch.

Yobo has stated that he wants to return to England after the one-year deal is up for the betterment of his childrens education which is underway in the UK.

The former Marseille and Standard Liege man has been at Goodison Park for the past eight years and is under contract until 2014.

Transfer news from the Serie A is out and it has been reported that AS Roma have signed AC Milan striker Marco Borriello.

The Italian international striker had been on the verge of making the move to Juventus this morning, but it all fell apart when he refused a loan option.

It is believed that the striker is seeking certainty in his career and appeared to have found that with a permanent move to Roma worth 15m.

However, the announcement came this evening on the official Milan website of temporary loan of his services to the Giallorossi.

Roma have now formally confirmed a free loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season for 10m, plus VAT. The payment will be split into three instalments.
