PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor believes that the new Premier League rules instructing clubs to name a 25-man squad do “not go far enough”. The new rule was designed to help foster domestic talent and although the imperative is on clubs to ensure they have a ready selection of young players, Taylor believes the existing rules need to be tightened.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League yesterday cleared the deal after seeing evidence it had been agreed in time between Tottenham and Real Madrid.
